V. LeRoy Young, M.D., 2012 KSPS Visiting Professor
Dr. V. LeRoy Young, M.D. is Professor and Chief of Surgical Services of Barnes-Jewish W. County Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. A Kentucky native, Dr. Young trained at the University of Kentucky and has been a leader both in basic science and clinical research. He has been awarded numerous research grants to help pursue his investigations into silicone gel and saline-filled breast implants. He was the driving force that led to implementation of a National Breast Implant Registry (NaBIR), which has been adopted by countries around the world. He has been NaBIR's Director since 2000. His efforts have lead to the publication of more than 160 articles or chapters in major plastic surgery journals and books.
Dr. Young visited with the Plastic Surgery residency training programs at the University of Louisville and the University of Kentucky to share his insight and experience about patient safety and fat grafting as well as a variety of other topics during his stay. He presented lectures and entertained case discussions for university faculty, residents, and the community plastic surgeons in both cities.
